I stopped a little bit after Gamecube came out. I was still pulling games for my PSX when my brother got his PS2. I started back playing it in 2011 because while I could play PSX games on PS2, there's this old school feeling of playing PSX on PSX with the load times and eating Combos.

...just like 1997 all over again, really.

I stopped playing it once i got into a groove playing the PS2. The PS1 just became a little bit too old for me! Plus PS2 had more features that i liked.

I'm passionate about playing all kinds of games from Megadrive (Genesis) to PS4/XBOne.

I have two original model PS1s and a PSOne and 9 Sega Saturns, including JP model 1 and 2.

Retro or modern - it's all gaming.

Pretty much right when I got my PS2. Though I still threw in PSX games in my PS2 all the time. Every now and then, I still throw in a PSX game in my PS2 when I'm feeling nostalgic, lol.

I stopped playing because I got the PS2. I still used it initially when I first got the PS2 but slowly phased it out as more and more games were released for the PS2. Actually I didn't completely stop using it, it's still sitting on my shelf and I play some old games on it from time to time.

I loved my PS1. The problem was, it was technically my brother's, and he wanted a PS2. I think we still have the PS1 somewhere at my parent's house. We were both pretty into upgrading and having the latest technology and games. Now, we have downloaded Crash Bandicoot for the PS4 because we both miss playing it! It'd be so great if all consoles were game compatible.

That would be nice but then they can't sell you the HD remakes of their old games!

I used to share a PS1 with my cousins in New York, but the game selection they had was fairly limited, and they were female gamers. So there wasn’t really much to keep me going. When I moved to another state (after somehow forgetting my N64), I stopped having interest in wanting a PS1. My father bought me a GameCube, and a game called “Bloody Roar: Primal Fury.”

After that, I pretty much went to some close friends of mine every now and then to play racing games and Metal Gear Solid games as well for the PS2. I also went to New York again a few years back, and when I tried to play the PS1 again by my cousins', I got bored fairly quick. Again, it was due to how they probably lost interest in video games in general that it was left to collect dust. Most of the younger relatives play it, so I guess they wouldn’t be too picky about things.

I guess my reason is that I wasn't fortunate to be caught up in a lot of games for the console in particular, so it rarely triggers any nostalgia for me.

Yeah that was another reason i stopped playing was the fact that they stopped releasing games for the PS1. At that point it just became stale playing the same games over and over again with no new games to look forward to.

Same as the last person that posted, my console never broke down. I used it a lot too. What eventually made me stop playing was when I got my Playstation 2. No reason to use the old system when I could play all the games on the Playstation 2. After I got it the old system went on the shelf and I haven't used it since.

I actually still haven't stopped playing my PlayStation 1. In fact, I am still growing my collection of PlayStation games still to this day. I feel that the PS1 is sill a good option for playing games. Even though the graphics are dated, there are some fun titles that are still playable.

I stopped playing it simply because it felt outdated after PS2 arrived. I had better games on PS2. Same happened with PS2 and PS3 as well.

Pretty sure I never had one - it just wasn't something I apparently cared about. I was more into Nintendo and the final shudders of Sega. Apparently I'm very conservative when it comes to investing in new console lines.

I never stopped.. I don't really get people who stop playing their older games like they are suddenly irrelevant..

I still have it, but I think because I had gotten a PS2 and just didn't use it anymore.

I stopped playing my ps1 because I got a backwards-compatible ps2 on release day that actually enhanced the ps1 graphics.

Once I got the PS2 I decided to give PS1 to a friend of mine. They really didn't have much money to get PS2 or any game console so I gave to her kids with most of the games. They were thrilled which made it all worth while.
