the true, the ps vita is a fail.

Sorry if i upset someone here but nobody doesn't like the Ps vita and everybody go with 3ds. Sony at this E3 use the Ps vita as a pad like wii u and it does make me upset that ps4 is a high price wii u. I was hoping see some game on Ps vita this year.

It would seem that the 3DS has blown the PS vita out of the water in every term of the phrase this time. It will be hard going for Playstation to fight on two fronts. On the main console side they are in direct competition with XBOX and on the portable console side of things with Nintendo. It is much easier for these companies to focus their resources onto their own specialty respectively while Playstation is trying to cover both. It is admirable, however, the 3DS is superior in most ways, especially with the huge variety of games is allows the user to play. Furthermore, whoever gets the Pokemon fans wins basically in this genre. They make up such a huge proportion of the sales, that they can easily sway the market into Nintendo's favor.

Yeah, the PSVita could be a great little handheld but it seems someone forgot about it. I got one back in December, mainly for remote play, and I've only bought ONE game so far, MLB 14. the other 6 games I have where free on PS+

I'm actually thinking about trading it in for the Playstation TV

Err, I think it is pretty great. I mean I do own one yet, but I intend to very soon. I might have said this elsewhere, but right now the Vita is a niche handheld in that its collection of games only applies to, well, to a niche audience. The only real drawback to the thing is the price of the memory cards.

That's the thing. That's why some love it and others dislike it.

I think Sony are stupid for not properly supporting and marketing the device, though.

I've had my Vita since day 1. It is pretty great. There are more games for it than I could ever okay and just as a piece of tech it's pretty cool.

    ^^^^ what he said

Technically the Vita is an AMAZING piece of kit. Not just the games, but the voice party chat is superb, the other apps are wonderful. The success/failure of the system isn't down to the hardware it's down to the software. Yes the vita hasn't got enough titles for it, but some of the titles it does have are amazing. I think in Japan the Vita is doing really well, so there is a market for it.

Bring out more games and people will buy it. Add to the fact it does remote play as well, and that with all the other features the PS4 can do with the back catologue of games that can be played via remote play as well, personally i think the vita is just starting to find it's feet and we're catching up with it.

Vita is pretty nice little system but it REALLY doesn't have ANNYYYY Killer Apps. Killer apps make or break a system. Things like Animal Crossing, Mario Kart and the like are system sellers where as (as good as they may be) Uncharted and Persona 4 Golden are not enough to push players to buy it especially when ALOT of what has come out for Vita later came out as an HD edition on a regular console. It NEEDS killer apps if it's going to be profitable. It NEEDS something multiplayer that will push people into buying it and it all goes back to sony. Sony NEEDS to get some third party to make some EXCLUSIVE titles for it but we'll just have to wait and see..

It is supported and marketed just right in Japan.

Japan is portable crazy in a way we aren't in the US. Also, they get a lot of rpgs there I don't think we see here in the US.

I considered picking up a vita as a PS4 peripheral (a toy for my toy) but at the moment I just don't see myself using it much. I already own a 3DS that I love (animal crossing junkie here) and I don't really have any PS4 games I want to play away from the tv.

Exactly. But just because the U.S market doesn't find the Vita appealing doesn't mean it is failing.

Still, it would have been nice for Sony to throw the Vita a little support during E3. Didn't seem like they paid much attention to it.

They really did not show anything for it at E3, it really bothers me. They could have AT LEAST shown Freedom Wars and Oreshika footage. Those who own Vitas already know about those two, but they could have shown some actual games for the device to the general public. But no, they seem quite happy making it be a mere attachment for the PS4...

I absolutely love my Vita and I play it A LOT! Right after I bought it I had a little regret because of the lack of software, but there are a lot of games for it now. The people who said it is caters to a niche audience are correct. I do wish it would get some more attention here in the US, but you also have to think that if they make a Vita exclusive AAA western games and they don't sell then they would be digging their own handheld grave. It really is a big gamble for them. The third party devs don't really care if their game is a system seller, so why would they risk making a blockbuster exclusive title on the console with a small owner base?

That's true, and that's all mostly because Sony has no "must have" franchises in the west like Nintendo does and handhelds ARE more popular in Japan. Particularly seems to be because the Japanese don't find much time to play consoles so they play handhelds a lot more.

Sony has basically said they won't be making many if any big exclusives for the system which is sad. But on the other hand, a lot of Japanese games have been getting localized, which is surprising. If that trend continues, I'll be happy.

That said, I wish they would at least get Japan Studio to make more games for it. Their games would cater to the Japanese and the niche audience in the west, it would be great. I hope Freedom Wars isn't the last we see of them...

That's the issue really. They're going out of their way to push the PS4 and the PS3, but even they know the Vita is almost a loss cause, and they just don't bother marketing it. Which can only be done if they support it first.

I don't think that's what it is either. Sony's Western Marketing for the Vita is nearly nothing and no BIG games have come out for it yet that haven't been on other systems already..

The PlayStation vita has a lot of potential, someone needs to make an awesome game for it. Up until now there are not any mind blowing games for the system yet. Now that the PlayStation 4 has been released maybe we will see some more momentum with the Vita in the near future. I will say it is the most powerful handheld available right now.

As if we don; know that already. It's a failure and Sony has acknowledged it as well. The focus is on to use it more as a supplementary gadget than anything else.

Yeah, I'm really sad about the path sony's been going with Vita lately. When it was announced, Vita was supposed to be a powerhouse, a freaking PS3 in your pocket, and the launch titles definitely followed this philosophy. Fast forward 3 years, and Vita is mainly an indie machine, with a few Japanese games coming out now and then. It's really disappointing, considering Vita has a great hardware.
